Hundreds of office workers, tourists, mums & bubs and Sydneysiders celebrated National Recycling Week on Monday 10th November at Martin Place, to the sounds of the National Junk Band - performing on their recycled instruments. There was an excited frenzy at the Swap Party (held from 12.30 - 1.30) as around five hundred people eagerly traded their pre-loved items for someone else's.
Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore, who opened the event, swapped one of her famous chokers for a pair of red shoes. Workshops, quizzes, and information stalls were held on recycling topics from arts and craft re-use, worm farming, and how to recycle right at home. The event received a huge amount of positive feedback, both from the media and from everyone involved.
