Office Flings Are Flooding In
Author: Lucy Band
The idea behind the Fling is simple. Just set some time aside on Friday the 12th November
for you and your colleagues to go through your filing cabinets and desk
draws and re-use or recycle unnecessary files and paper. You can register your team, your floor, your building or your entire organisation.
Some of this year's participating workplaces include Colonial First State, Pitney Bowes, Yarra City Council, Mirvac (WA), CSR Australia, Net Balance, EYE Corp, The Aluminium Can Group, Isuzu and lots of schools, government departments and small businesses from across the country.
A Fling is easy to organise, is a great staff engagement activity and helps de-clutter your office. Evaluations from last year's event show that:
- 89% of organisers thought the FFF was easy to organise,
- 81% through it was a positive engagement activity and
- 84% said they would organise another one.
The Fling can also be used to highlight exiting, or launch new, sustainability initiatives. Or you can just add a social event like morning tea.Last year our event Supporter, Colonial First State, tripled the amount of paper they recycled over the same period in the year before. Which is a great result for the environment and a positive figure to include in environmental reporting.
Planet Ark has developed a range of resources to help plan and promote your Fling including the Step By Step Guide (attached).
