As a responsible retailer, Officeworks understands it has a duty to operate sustainably, responsibly source products and minimise the environmental impacts of products, even after they leave its stores.
Officeworks offers a number of different recycling solutions for products sold within our stores, including ink and toner cartridges, mobile phones, batteries, computers and computer accessories. These recycling solutions are available for free in most Officeworks stores around the country.
In 2014, Officeworks recycled more than 890,000 printer cartridges, 370,000kg computers and accessories and more than 4,500kg of mobile phones. During 2014, Officeworks is proud to become the first retailer in Australia to collect more than five million cartridges.
Officeworks stores, support offices and distribution centres are also dedicated to reducing waste and recycling where possible. Cardboard, paper and plastic materials are all diverted from landfill through recycling partners. This year, Officeworks recycled approximately 3,500 tonnes of paper, cardboard and plastics from the total network.
In partnership with Planet Ark, Officeworks became the first company to adopt the Australian Recycling Label. The Australian Recycling Label enables Officeworks to make a positive difference by removing confusion about what packaging is and is not recyclable.
During National Recycling Week, we encourage everyone to visit their local Officeworks to recycle at the recycling station located at the front of the store. Children are invited to participate in colouring-in activities. Find your local Officeworks here or find out how you can get involved here.
